Description
This example:
An unusual heavy sword with a thick, slightly curved blade. The mounts are rather simply made, yet elegant and functional. Considered the weight of the sword and length of the hilt, I would assume this sword was ment to used two-handed, since it is too heavy to wield it in one hand. It likely originates from Cambodia due to its Khmer influence and appearance like.
The hilt:
The hilt is long stretched, with a long iron ferrule holding a fine blunt piece of rosewood as pommel. In the right angle and daylight, a beautiful wood grain can be seen throughout its entire length. The blade:
This shape is locally called ‘Hua lem‘ or ‘Hua darb‘ among dha collectors, which can be distinguished from other blade forms by the tip of the blade which is curved and has a single cutting edge with a false edge on top. The blade has a hardened edge and shows some battle damage.
Condition: Excellent, a heavy functional fighting dha. Some minor ware on the blade and scabbard.
